Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, on the Terra Nova Expedition 1910 - 1913, where he attempted to beat Roald Amundsen to the South Pole. They man-hauled their sleds to the Pole, but Amundsen had been there first, and Scott and his men lost their lives on the return Journey.
